ANGLES:
Ball of your foot touching the ground
Draw a half circle the diameter of your stance
APPLICATIONS:
Sweep their front leg inside or outside
Inside if you are square with your opponent
Outside if you are to the side of of your opponent
Can also sweep straight backwards in a line (the sweep just before Dai Zaang)
扱踭/kap1 zaang1 (cup jaang)/cover elbow [high]
ANGLES:
Draw a line with your elbow from up to down at a 45° angle (as viewed from the front)
Zyun Maa (turn body)
Elbow arm angle at 45°
Rear hand starts in a Hau Paak Sau position before doing a Mang Sau (when catching their punch late)
Elbow in line with your 1st centreline
APPLICATIONS:
Train with your rear hand collapsed by your opponent (diagonally) – can be up against a wall
Ci Sau – they ‘same side’ Waang Zaang (see below)/you ‘same side’ Kap Zaang over their elbow
Can Mang into Kap Zaang on the inside, however you will be facing away from their 2nd punch. Need to be quick to turn back and deal with the 2nd punch

Hands are palms down with wrists bent and fingers to the side (ulnar deviation)

This is the striking version of Waang Teoi Wun
Only use 1 hand in practice
Same 3 variations as Paak Daa (i.e. ‘double outside’, ‘double inside’ and ‘1 in 1 out’) or combine with ‘same side, outside’ SLT Gam Sau
Practice accuracy (not power) on pads to attack the eyes
Throw the wrist to flick the fingers to the eyes

ANGLES:
Fingers curl ’round their arms’ as you pull backwards (opposite of SNT Dau Sau – Dau Sau is either forward or across your own body)
Elbows stay close to body
This is single BZ Laap – near the end of the form is double BZ Laap
APPLICATIONS:
Same side, inside or diagonal, outside
Train in Saan Sau by transitioning from a 1 hand Gaau Caa Sau
Even though it can be dangerous to pull your opponent towards you, you now have elbows (e.g. Waang Zaang) to fight at close range and avoid being head-butted

Saan Sau Ideas:
Punch/double inside or outside Laap + Tik or Mang Pull their neck into Dai Zaang (low elbow – from the Laap hand) with Zyun Maa

Draw a line with your elbow from horizontally (as viewed from the front)

APPLICATIONS:
Same side, outside – can use elbow alone or with horizontal Mang Sau to help

If doing Waang Zaang on the inside, make sure to turn back quickly to face their 2nd hand

APPLICATIONS:
As in the form, can come under your Waang Zaang to strike or reach for their back hand to straight Mang Sau it
Same 3 variations as Paak Daa i.e. double outside, double inside and 1 in 1 out
Common combinations are with same side, outside Mang Sau, Gam or Zat Sau
前掹手/CIN4 MANG1 SAU2 (chin mung sao)/FRONTAL PULLING HAND (STRAIGHT)
ANGLES:
Fingers grab to a fist at the same time that your forearms go backwards
Forearms go directly back to a fists by your sides position
APPLICATIONS:
Same side, outside and diagonal, inside
Has a ‘whipping’/’jerking’ quality on your opponent’s stiff arm when combining your fingers and forearm together
Follow up with Dai Zaang (same hand) or Kap Zaang (other hand)
Common combinations are with any Biu Zi or Caap
低踭/dai1 zaang1 (dai jarn)/low elbow
ANGLES:
Draw a line with your elbow from diagonally (as viewed from the front)
Zyun Maa (turn body) 90°
Elbow arm angle at 45°
Rear hand starts in a Hau Paak Sau position before doing a downwards Mang Sau
Elbow in line with your 1st centreline
Elbow goes no higher than the Gaau Caa Sau elbow position
APPLICATIONS:
Same side, outside – use downwards Mang Sau to help
Can strike to the elbow, ribs or stomach
Combine your elbow+Mang to break their elbow
Ci Sau – as well as combining with Mang, can also just use your elbowing hand to grab their hand of the arm you are elbowing
Punch/Same Side Waang Mang/Punch/Same Side Waang Mang into 2 Dai Zaangs to their body [2 quick punches]
Grabbed round neck+knee/2 Dai Zaangs quickly to their knee
BZ Double Laap into Dai Zaang to ribs under their Laaped arm
横撲掌/waang4 pok3 zoeng2 (wang pok jeung)/horizontal leaping palm (high)
ANGLES:
Hand starts by doing a Hyun to get round their arm to their side
Heel of the palm then continues round to hit them from the side at the level of your face
Wrist angle goes from flexed to extended
Elbow stays out
Combine with SNT Laap
APPLICATIONS:
A strike from the side to the face with the heel of the palm
Be aware that your 1st centreline is exposed as your elbow is out so combine with SNT Laap (forward)
Ideally Laap his front hand so that it blocks his back hand – again as your 1st centreline is vulnerable
穿腕/cyun4 wun2 (chun wun)/piercing wrist
ANGLES:
Hand on your 1st centreline and at height of your ‘upper’ 3rd centreline (sternum)
Fingers of your hand going to the side like the 3 SNT Waang Zoengs
Elbow on your ‘braces’ line – not ‘elbow in’ otherwise they can Laap you more easily
Wrist goes from flexed to extended as palm goes forward
APPLICATIONS:
Diagonal, outside – reaching for their back hand or upper arm
Like Gam Sau, can do high to their shoulder – same side, inside. Also like Gam, make sure to Gam their back hand
